Kolisi, Etzebeth shine as Boks dominate SA Sports Awards

Captain Siya Kolisi won two accolades as he picked up the Sports Star of the Year and People's Choice Awards, while lock, Eben Etzebeth, was named Sportsman of the Year.

JOHANNESBURG - The Springboks stole the show at the 17th SA Sport Awards at Sun City on Sunday night as they dominated the list of winners.

There was little doubt that the Boks would be named the Team of the Year after an incredible 2023, where they successfully defended their Rugby World Cup title in France and lifted the Webb Ellis Trophy for an unprecedented fourth time.

Captain Siya Kolisi won two accolades as he picked up the Sports Star of the Year and People's Choice Awards, while lock, Eben Etzebeth, was named Sportsman of the Year. Coach of the Year went to Jacques Nienaber and flyhalf, Manie Libbok, took home the Newcomer of the Year prize.

To add to the impressive haul, SA Rugby was named the Federation of the Year, beating competition from Cricket South Africa and Cycling South Africa, while SA Rugby president, Mark Alexander, was recognised as the Administrator of the Year.
