JOHANNESBURG - Two young boys have drowned in a water pond in Duduza, east of Johannesburg.
The children, aged ten and eleven, were reported missing on Thursday night, with their bodies recovered on Friday by emergency services.
Ekurhuleni disaster and emergency management teams responded to reports of a possible drowning just after 8am, finding clothing near the water’s edge.
The items were later confirmed to belong to the boys.
Paramedics declared both children dead on the scene.
Ekurhuleni EMS spokesperson William Ntladi urged motorists to avoid the area.
"So we are pleading with the motorists, and with the other people that are using the roads, that when they come to this road just adjacent to the police station, to drive very carefully, there are a lot of people and vehicles."
