Truck drivers say around a 150 lorries are expected to join a protest outside the Eskom headquarters at Megawatt Park later on Friday.
Some trucks were already outside the parastatal’s campus during the early morning. Other heavy duty vehicles were stopped by police near Benoni on the East Rand.
Drivers are angry at Eskom, saying they are losing contracts to transport coal to bigger companies.
The chairperson of the Association of Truck Owners, Teboho Joala, says they are losing money.
Early traffic on Maxwell Drive and roads leading onto it was severely disrupted because of the protest.
