More details about the African National Congress’s proposal to change the country’s welfare system are expected to be announced on Monday morning.
Party delegates spent the weekend discussing what will be included in the ANC’s manifesto for next year’s elections.
The Sunday Times newspaper reported at the weekend that the ruling party is considering extending the welfare net.
The ANC’s manifesto will reveal whether it has taken a jump to the left or will continue with its current economic policy.
It appears that job creation will be the main focus as well as new plans to look after the poorest of the poor.
Since Polokwane, the ANC said that it will follow a policy of continuity and change.
The party will reveal on Monday which of those will have more emphasis, but the final manifesto will only be released in January.
