Zuma to outline vision for the judiciary

President Jacob Zuma - along with the country’s top judges - is expected to outline their visions of the judiciary on Monday morning.

Zuma will open the judges’ conference while Chief Justice Pius Langa and his deputy Dikgang Moseneke are due to speak.

This could be the last time Langa addresses the country’s judges as chief justice and he may use the opportunity to make some comments about how he reads the state of the country and its judiciary.

The stakes could be higher for Moseneke as he was seen as the most likely candidate to replace Langa before what appeared to have a public falling out with some members of the African National Congress.

Zuma is likely to examine the issue of transformation which is one of the themes of the conference but organisers have said the gathering would have special emphasis on enhancing access to justice.
