Friday marks 300 days to the kick off of the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
Preparations for the sporting event are well underway and many projects across the country have already been completed.
Renovations on existing stadia across the country are almost done and five new stadia being built for the World Cup are over 80 percent complete.
The 2010 Organising Committee is confident all projects will be ready in time for the international sporting event.
It is hoped the Gautrain route between Sandton and OR Tambo International Airport will be operational in time for soccer fans.
Transport Minister S’bu Ndebele said most transport projects have been completed and are ready for the influx of foreigners.
“They say it is about sports but it is actually about transport. The sports part is that 90 minutes the rest is transport.”
With only 300 days to go, South Africans are growing more enthusiastic about hosting the World Cup on African soil for the first time.
