Athletics South Africa head Leonard Chuene has been suspended along with his board on the day ASA finally apologised for its handling of the Caster Semenya gender debacle.

Olympics governing body SASCOC said it made the decision to suspend Chuene pending the outcome of a disciplinary investigation and further action.

The meeting considered the report of the SASCOC Legal and Arbitration Commission into the handling of the Semenya debacle.

The board unanimously accepted the recommendations, saying it would consider the recommendation to take action against the IAAF.

It suggested SASCOC board member Ray Mali may be appointed temporary administrator of ASA.
