A man, police have described as one of Gauteng’s most wanted criminals, has been arrested in Sandton, northern Johannesburg.

The man is believed to be the kingpin of the so-called Rolex gang.

Police acted on a tip-off and chased after the suspect who had been at Morningside Clinic.

It is believed the suspect, who was out on R10 000 bail, was involved in an armed robbery in Randburg on Tuesday.

Police chased after him and opened fire in a bid to stop the man who is believed to be from Alexandra in northern Johannesburg.

He was shot in the arm and treated on the scene.
