The Momentum 94.7 Cycle Challenge came to an end at around 4 o’clock on Sunday afternoon.
26 thousand cyclists took part in the race; the event is one of the world’s largest cycling competitions.
The men’s race was won by Aaron Brown from Team Medscheme, he completed 94.7 kilometers in 2 hours 14 minutes and 25 seconds.
Jo van de Winkel of Team Toyota Cycle Lab is the Momentum 94.7 Cycle Challenge 2009 Women’s Champion, she finished her race in 2 hours 47 minutes and 7 seconds.
Race director Tanya Harford says, “Generally the consensus is that this was the best Momentum 94.7 Cycle Challenge ever. I’m particularly thankful to the City of Johannesburg; the Johannesburg Metro Police today were absolutely unbelievable”.
