The National Consumer Union has urged retailers to give back to shoppers, as the 6th consecutive petrol price drop looms.

Petrol prices began falling 5 months ago, after peaking at a whopping R10, 20 a litre last year.

Come Wednesday the price of a litre of petrol will decrease again by between R1 , 34 and R1, 37 cents.

The same quantity of diesel will cost at least R1, 65 less.

But the National Consumer Union’s Ina Wilken says she’s amazed this drop has yet to be reflected on store shelves.

“When petrol goes up retailers immediately hike prices. The same should happen when it drops,” said Wilken.
