A couple, accused of abusing an eight-month-old baby, will be back in court this week.
The Star newspaper reported the infant was found with at least 10 fractures, burns and wounds to his body.
The couple will face a charge of assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm.
The case against them was postponed on Friday after being granted bail in the Randburg Magistrate’s Court last year.
The 22-year-old mother and her husband will be back in court on Wednesday when the case is expected to be taken to a higher regional court.
According to The Star, they were arrested in October after the child’s babysitter took him to a hospital and opened a case.
Doctors found he had a number of injuries including broken ribs and twist fractures on both elbows, a wrist and ankle.
He also had what appeared to be cigarette burns on his feet.
Officials took the infant to a place of safety.
His parents are yet to plead to the charges against them.
