The Cape Town Weather Office has confirmed temperatures will drop significantly tomorrow.
Temperatures soared well above the forecasted high of 32 degrees on Monday because a coastal low pressure system did not arrive as expected.
Capetonians and those in rural Western Cape, however, can breathe a collective sigh of relief as the heat wave will come to an end overnight.
Weather forecaster Stella Nake said the temperature will drop by about 10 degrees in the city.
“It’s going to be cloudy initially. There’s possibility of some light showers for the day on and off. Maximum temperature for Cape Town? You’re looking at about 24.”
Meanwhile, pet lovers have inundated Eyewitness News with stories of animals in distress.
SPCA spokesperson Sara Scarth has reminded pet owners to take precautionary measures.
“We’ve encouraged people not to chain their dogs up and if they are travelling with their animals, to never leave them in the car.”
