City officials confirmed on Monday motorists should be able to collect their driver’s licence cards soon following backlogs.
The Pretoria-based company that was awarded with the tender to manufacture the licences has withheld the cards since mid-February, allegedly due to non-payment.
Prodiba has accused Cape Town officials of failing to pay service fees.
But the city’s Safety and Security spokesperson JP Smith said he has handed over more than R800 000 to the firm.
“The delay has been resolved but it seems to stem from an issue around the Department of Transport nationally that has affected driving centres in all municipalities all around the country.”
