President Jacob Zuma is holding a private meeting with two female paramedics who were attacked in Durban Deep on the West Rand last week.
He arrived at the Roodepoort fire station amid a strong police presence on Sunday afternoon.
He is expected to address Johannesburg Emergency Service’s officials after the meeting.
There was a lot of excitement at the fire station ahead of the president’s arrival. The crowd went wild and there was song and dance when he finally pulled up. They cheered and chanted his name.
Zuma is expected to address JES members and Roodepoort residents this afternoon following an attack on two female paramedics in the nearby Durban Deep. One of them was raped while the other was assaulted over a week ago. The pair was attending to a young burn victim at the time. Their attackers are still on the loose.
