Bombela officials said on Friday that normal weekend schedules of the Gautrain will be operating and no additional trains will be running this weekend.
Earlier on Friday, trains were run slower than usual as a safety precaution after warning signals went off due to the icy weather. Trains were running every 30 minutes as opposed to every 12 minutes.
Bombela’s Errol Braithwaite said: “We’ve taken a decision [on Friday] to maintain the 30 minute headway between trains and 30 minute journey time to the airport to enable us to do some additional work on the system.”
One man at the Sandton station said the delays were not too bad.
“We’ve been waiting about 10 minutes so it’s a little bit longer. But maybe it feels longer because of the cold,” he said.
