Still few answers on Mandela attempted robbery

Amid questions about what actually happened outside Zindzi Mandela’s home on Sunday, the Democratic Alliance on Thursday said it will ask questions in Parliament about why there was an apparent cover up following the shooting.

On Thursday, Eyewitness News revealed that Nelson Mandela’s grandchildren were held up in an apparent attempted armed robbery shortly after the former statesman’s birthday celebration.

A bodyguard opened fire on the suspects as they fled.

Despite several policemen responding to the incident, a docket was only opened three days later following persistent questions from Eyewitness News. The family insists the error was not on their part as they believed police were following up the matter.

The DA’s Diane Kohler Barnard said police action has been unacceptable.

“Many questions have been raised and [Talk Radio] 702 reporters have dug and dug and found out the truth about this incident. I will put through parliamentary questions about the matter,” said Barnard.
