A week after gunmen shot dead a C-Max prison warder the police still have not arrested anyone for the shooting.

Moraka Malamatsu was shot dead on Wednesday morning in what is believed to be a hit a week after he testified against fellow warders. Just after 5am as he was preparing to go to work, several gunmen burst into his home before shooting him at least six times.

His colleagues are accused of masterminding an attempted prisoner escape in 2003 during which two warders were killed, including the head of C-Max.

No one witnessed the crime and the killers left few clues.

“The investigation is on and we have not made any arrests,” said the police’s Portia Maleka.

Malamatsu’s family is unwilling to discuss the matter fearing they may jeopardise the case or the killers may come back.
