Government’s latest wage offer ’a joke’, says PSA

The Public Servants Association said it’s not happy with government’s revised wage offer Thursday night, because little had changed.

The offer was tabled at the Public Service Coordinating Bargaining Council in Centurion.

The state is offering employees a 6.5% wage hike and a R630 housing allowance, R10 more than the previous offer.

PSA members across the country went on strike over a wage dispute on Thursday.

The PSA’s Manie de Clerq has called the latest offer a joke.

“The offer that the employer indicated they would make had created huge expectations,” said de Clerq.

State employees remain firm on their demand of an 8.6% wage hike, a R1000 housing allowance and the equalisation of medical aid subsidies.
