Police have confirmed they are investigating a possible link between two South African Airways drug busts, discovered at Heathrow International Airport, in the last month.

On Monday an entire SAA crew was taken in for questioning after British authorities found cocaine in their luggage.

Police said it was still unclear if there was a link between two SAA drug smuggling incidents discovered at the airport in the last month.

Two kilograms of cocaine was found in a bag belonging to one of the airline crew.

Last month, more SAA staff were detained when a consignment of dagga and cocaine worth millions of rand was found in staff luggage.

The police’s Tumi Golding admitted that they were unsure if the two incidents were related.

“The South African Crime Intelligence Unit is part of the investigation. We cannot confirm the release of the interrogation processes. We still awaiting the report from London,” Golding said.

The SAA crew members are still being questioned by United Kingdom authorities and it is unclear when they will be released and be allowed to return to the country.
