The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) is delaying payments to over 200,000 social grant beneficiaries across the country.

This comes amid concerns around alleged undisclosed income.

Letsatsi says that if a grant recipient’s financial situation changes, such as if they get a new job, they are obliged to inform Sassa and have the grant cancelled.

He says the affected individuals have money coming into their accounts, but they did not inform Sassa.

The agency is giving them an opportunity to explain their situation.

If these individuals fail to present themselves within 30 days, their grants will be permanently cancelled.
