Beach lovers were in for a treat on Monday after witnessing blue electric waves dancing on our shores – and they have the red tide to thank for it.
A red tide is characterised by an uncontrolled accumulation of microscopic algae called dinoflagellates, which taints the water surface red as the name suggests.
These microorganisms makes use of bioluminescence to either evade, lure, or detect prey.
One social media user Trails of Valour - Off the Beaten Track SA, shared his drone footage and it's magical to say the least.
