CAPE TOWN - Cape Town firefighters and support crews from among others Table Mountain National Park are back on a fire front in the deep south.
Teams are battling a blaze in the Redhill area next to Simon’s Town.
Three helicopters, five fire engines, and three water tankers have been deployed after a fire broke out on the mountain slopes on Thursday night.
No properties have been affected and no injuries reported.
The city's Jermaine Carelse added that a fire that was raging near the Steenbras Dam lookout point has been brought under control.
“But we still have crews on scene monitoring for any flareups. Given the prevailing weather conditions and the forecast for today [Friday], the city’s service crews are on high alert for any fires.”
