The latest controversial weight loss trend has been making rounds on social media, getting mixed reactions.
Jaw wiring or slimming wires connects your lower and upper jaw bones together, making it virtually impossible to open and close.
As a result, the only way to get in nutrients is through consuming liquids, essentially initiating a fast, which comes with its own set of risks and benefits.
Many argue that it's not a sustainable way to lose or maintain weight.
X user @TiisetxoSetso, reshared a woman's TikTok video with the caption, "Is it a good idea to do this? I have so many questions."
Users responded with mixed reactions:"Yawning must be a serious problem", said one user, followed by "Just cut out starch and sugar, eat lots of meat with vegetables...drink lots of water and exercise 5 days a week then you won't need this."
On the other hand, there were some in favour of this weight loss technique: "My sis did this and she lost so much weight," said one user, and "This is better than gym," said another.
