While Bafana Bafana’s final group game in the Africa Cup of Nations against Tunisia wasn’t action-packed, the boys in yellow and green did what needed to be done.
The team has everything to play for going into the game.
“Bafana Bafana knew when they got to the game that all they needed was a draw, so as long as they avoided losing. But the way that they went about doing that put them in a position where they almost lost.”
Nkululeko Nkewu, sports journalist
Ending in a 0–0 draw, South Africa finished Group E in second place, officially progressing to the last 16.
Nkewu adds that going beyond the last 16, Bafana Bafana will be “punching above their weight” as they are ranked 13th in the tournament.
Going into the knockout stages, Bafana will play Morocco on 30 January at 10pm.
