Clarence Ford speaks to Michael Hendrickse, an IEC Electoral Officer in the Western Cape about the processes for the final voters registration happening this weekend (3-4 February 2024).
Listen to the details below.
Hendrickse says the IEC has worked hard to make voting registration seamless.
South Africans 18 years and older will have the last chance to register to vote this weekend, 3-4 February 2024.
To skip the queues, you can register to vote online at: registertovote.elections.org.za
Ford says it took him less than three minutes to register online and it's "effortless."
If you can't register online, visit one of 1572 voting stations over the weekend from 8am to 5pm all over the province - all you need to bring with you is your identity document.
If you've misplaced your identity document, Home Affairs will be open this weekend between 8am and 5pm to issue temporary ID cards.
Hendrickse says, if you're not a first time voter and have voted and registered before, you will need to register to vote this year again because your personal details or voters information may have changed.
Hendrickse adds that it's important to register to vote because it's the only way to have your opinion heard and act upon it.
"Whatever your political dissuasion, voting is how you make a difference. It's all good and well to have opinion on social media and radio but your opinion matters... in the ballot box - so take your opinion and shove it in the ballot box."
