"It is like Planet of the Apes in that small town." - Adam Gilchrist
Lester Kiewit speaks to Adam Gilchrist about trending online news. Skip to 3:15 for this one.
Gilchrist reports that 3,500 macaques monkeys invaded Thailand's city centre, forcing locals to barricade homes, tourists to flee and shops to close to protect themselves against the rampaging monkeys.
It's reported that locals tried to shoo the wild monkeys away and attempted to keep them at bay by providing them with junk food, sweets, fizzy drinks and cereal – which are well known to make monkeys more hyper and sexually active.
This was confirmed by an official from the Department of National Parks who noted that sugary foods can increase the productivity of the monkeys and stimulate the monkeys to reproduce more.
Locals report that the monkeys are aggressive and hungry.
“The monkeys are hungrier and more aggressive than before.”

Other reports confirm that locals have locked themselves up in their homes.
