'We can't got on like this' - Roger Jardine on how he wants to change South Africa

Lester Kiewit speaks to Roger Jardine, the leader of Change Starts Now, who believes the time is right to unseat the ANC at the polls and take South Africa into a new direction.

They're very much the new kids on the political block but the Change Starts Now movement say they are determined to work with South Africans to ensure the forthcoming election is one of change.

Headed up by anti-apartheid activist, businessman and philanthropist Roger Jardine, the party says it advocates forĀ safety, dignity, and a capable government.

It recently commissioned an opinion poll ahead of the 2024 elections to get a feel of how registered voters were likely to vote come election day.

Jardine says the results show that, for the first time, the country is heading toward a coalition government:

"The current governing party are hovering around the 40% mark."

Jardine says the forthcoming elections are the most important since 1994 and adds that something must be done urgently to change the position the country finds itself in.

"We believe what South Africans are facing is really to now begin to think about the consequences of the way we vote and have voted over the years."

But what does 'change' look like, asks Lester Kiewit.

"It looks like having a government that sees all of the people of this country and fixes the problems."
