JOHANNESBURG - Eskom says some reprieve is on the cards for households and businesses as its generating capacity sees some improvement.
On Monday, the power utility announced plans to downgrade the current stage 5 power cuts from Tuesday morning.
Eskom spokesperson Daphne Mokwena said the return of five generating units was expected to replenish the emergency reserves.
“This will enable the reduction of load shedding to stage 3 from 05:00 on Tuesday until 16:00. Stage 4 load shedding will then be implemented from 16:00 on Tuesday until 05:00 on Wednesday.”
Mokwena said the power utility would continue to alternate between stages 3 and 4 indefinitely.
“Eskom Power Station General Managers and their teams continue to work diligently to ensure that additional generating units are brought back to service.”
