On Wednesday, Geordin Hill-Lewis, the Mayor of Cape Town, unveiled the City's yearly Infrastructure Report.
According to the report, the City's 10-year infrastructure plan has expanded to R140 billion.
Furthermore, the metro is poised to invest significantly more in infrastructure than other cities over the next three years.
The report offers a detailed overview of the present infrastructure status and outlines the City's 10-year plan, encompassing investments in Water and Sanitation, Energy, Urban Waste, Human Settlements, and Urban Mobility.
Hill-Lewis emphasises that this report will now be an annual occurrence, in line with their commitment to transparency regarding infrastructure needs, shortcomings, and strategies to address them.
This approach, he explains, ensures that both the public and industry stakeholders are kept informed about the City's infrastructure plans.
Regarding waste services, Kiewit acknowledges the ongoing challenges with refuse collection in certain areas.
Hill-Lewis reassures that steps have been taken to rectify this issue.
Regarding the MyCiTi network, he highlights their primary focus on the R8.5 billion Mitchells Plain-Khayelitsha extension project, noting that it is progressing smoothly.
"It's actually the biggest project in the city and probably the biggest infrastructure project in the Western Cape."
