Magaritas, 123RF
Foodies and "let's go for drinks" peeps, today's the day for you!
It's world margarita day (22 February) and all that's required to celebrate is to have a frozen margie (or two) in your hands.
To whom do we owe this special day?
A dude named, Todd McCalla founded margarita day to spread his love for margaritas around the world - thanks, Todd!
Keen for after work drinks? These spots in Cape Town offer margies that just hit different...
Rita's
Where: 22 Kloof St, Gardens
With a great selection of margaritas, tacos, nachos and more - this rooftop spot is highly recommended for lekker vibes with even better views of the City - and the live entertainment on Thursdays and Saturdays doesn't hurt too.
Una Más Mezcaleria
Where: 77 Regent Rd, Sea Point
For a cozy spot with really delish burrito bowls, fried cauliflower and of course, extra cold margaritas - this spot makes for a cute date night, solo experience or gals night out.
Top tip: you want to make a reservation because this spot fills up quick-sticks.
Mamacitas
Where: 75 Harrington St, District Six
One thing about Mamacitas - the portions will portion!
Anything on the menu is mouth-watering but when you actually taste it - wowzers, your tastebuds will thank you later. From the Birria tacos to a French toast fully loaded sandwich and cheesecake churros - tasty is the name of the game.
Of course, on world margarita day, this spot gets all the props for creative margie flavours which are poppin'!
Also, if you love hip-hop and RnB jams - this spot will be nostalgic and vibey in all the ways you hope.
Side note... (not margie related but delicious either way)
Mamacitas offer other epic cocktails (available in mocktails upon request) if you're craving something different, refreshing and tasty.
They have a 'KiwiNada' kind of slushy cocktail situation which is like drinking tajin covered pineapple but better (if you know, you know).
Koko Licious - Mocktail Bar
For the non-alcoholic drinkers, this one's a must try with epic views.
Where: Erf 202 Vlei Street, Schaapkraal Rd
