JOHANNESBURG - Joburg Water says the latest water crisis in parts of the city is out of its control.
Residents have struggled with no access to water all week after the Eikenhof pump station, needed repairs.
During an update on the situation on Friday the utility’s Logan Munsamy responded to questions about contingency plans for a crisis of this nature.
"This particular incident, I mean it was lightning that struck a substation transformer. And I think that certain things are naturally caused incidents that cause our system to go out of step. And when it does our contingency is to rebalance our systems, to reconfigure them, to deploy water tankers as is practically possible where we can."
