When Sivuyile Ngodwana was elected mayor of Ekurhuleni he promised to stabilise council’, and ‘deal with political instability.’

Since then, he has faced three motions of no confidence and council meetings have ended in chaos.

In addition to this, the Auditor General has raised concerns about the state of the City’s finances.

ActionSA is one of the parties pushing for the removal of the mayor.

Makhubo says that service delivery has collapsed completely in Ekurhuleni due to mismanagement.

He adds that the mayor in a compromised mayor and describes him as a puppet.

“The mayor is incompetent. He lacks the dynamic experience to lead a dynamic city such as the city of Ekurhuleni.”

However, Ngodwana says that while he respects the right to bring a motion of no confidence, service delivery was in a disastrous state when he came in.

He says that he has fixed a number of issues, such as illegal dumping in townships, since coming into office.

“We are cleaning up a city that was collapsed by the DA and ActionSA.”
