Over 100 years since the first ship historically set sail (and sunk), Australian billionaire Clive Palmer wants to put the Titanic back on the water.
The 70-year-old has been working on a replica of the ship for over a decade.
“It’s a lot more fun to do the Titanic than it is to sit at home and count my money,” Palmer told the media at a recent press conference.
He is confident he will secure a shipyard in time for construction on the vessel to start early next year.
With a price tag of over $600 million (R11 billion), the ship is scheduled to set sail in June 2027.
