National Assembly Speaker Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula allegedly got R2 million in tender kickbacks during her tenure as Defence Minister.
Parliament confirmed that the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) raided her home on Tuesday.

In an official statement, Parliament says the speaker 'upholds her strong conviction of innocence'.
Gwarube argues that Mapisa-Nqakula should resign now, even though her term ends in a few weeks.

Gwarube says that removing Mapisa-Nqakula will show South Africans that there are consequences for wrongdoing by the elites.
