Ray White speaks to Thulani Ngwenya, president of Popcru.

The Police and Prisons Civil Rights Union (Popcru) claims that a 4.7% wage increase is insulting.

They have warned of strike action and disruptions to the public services in the policing and correctional services sector if this is offer is not changed.

The increase has been approved for the start of April.

Ngwenya says that every public servant should be getting an increase of inflation plus 2%.

He adds that they don’t believe that the government does not have the money to implement this.

Ngwenya says that if government does not come to the table they will have no choice but to strike.
