A new tool by OpenAI can generate a clone of another person’s voice using only 15 seconds of audio.
However, the platform has decided that it is too risky to rollout this technology to the public.

In a year where many countries are hosting elections, this technology could be used to spread dangerous misinformation.
The dangerous impact of this technology has already been seen, with a number of people receiving voice notes that sound exactly like someone they know.

The owner of an animal sanctuary in the United States recently shared a voice note from a follower, where his voice was used to ask her for money.
