Over the weekend a level 6 weather warning was issued for Cape Town, and the storm has taken one life.
Outlying areas of the Cape have been issued with a level 9 warning.

Videos have been circulating on social media of the damage caused by the storm, with one showing a truck being blown off the Huguenot bridge.

There have also been several clips of roofs being blown off houses.
