Facebook shares the following tips for safe shopping on its platform:
- Avoid communicating with buyers or sellers privately outside of the platform. Having a record of the conversation will be helpful if there are any issues.
- Review the seller’s Commerce Profile to find out more about them before purchasing.
- If you need to meet up with the seller, do it in a well-lit public space and don’t go alone.
- Don’t opt for any third-party transaction methods, there is no guarantee that you'll get your money.
- Inspect the items before handing over any money, to ensure they are genuine.
- Request a certificate of authenticity or proof of purchase for high-value items.
