Three fishermen were stranded on a small island in the Pacific for over a week after an Easter Sunday fishing expedition went awry.
They were finally rescued after a Coast Guard rescue team spotted a HELP message they had made on the beach out of palm fronds.
Amazingly, one of the members of the rescue team that saved them was a third cousin of the fishermen who could speak their local language according to The Guardian.
The trio had survived by eating coconuts and drinking from a fresh water well.
What makes this story even more incredible is that this was the same island where other fishermen were rescued four years ago after their SOS message was seen.
“Maybe they remembered that story and did their version.”
