A French mayor has introduced a nighttime curfew for kids under the age of 13.

On Monday (22 April), Mayor of the southern town of Beziers, Robert Menard ordered all under 13s be off the street in three neighbourhoods from 11 pm to 6 am, unless accompanied by an adult.

The curfew is in effect until 30 September.

This is reportedly in response to the increase in youth violence.

"There seems to be a bit of a theme in France at the moment, youth violence is a big campaign issue in the run-up to the European Parliament elections."
