Relebogile Mabotja spoke to Randgo CEO, Kinola Pather.

Listen to their conversation in the audio clip below.

The constant increase in the cost of living has forced many consumers to look for ways to make their rands go further.

One such way is through loyalty programmes.

"Loyalty programmes create the opportunity for consumers, especially under current economic conditions, to stretch their disposable incomes."
- Kinola Pather, Randgo CEO

Pather says that there is in excess of 80 loyalty programmes in South Africa at the moment - some work on cash backs while others have a points system.

She adds that it's not just about signing up, but that there's a science to understanding and educating yourself on your loyalty programmes.

Pather highlights that many consumers don't work smartly when it comes to their loyalty programmes.

"When you are cognisant of the loyalty programme that you're on, you're planning your buying. You're looking at what partnerships they're aligned with to reap the discounts, to reap the additional points or cash backs that you can."
- Kinola Pather, Randgo CEO
"Many of these loyalty programmes are free, which results in it not being top of mind for the average consumer, but once you drive that awareness and once you make it top of mind, I can assure you that you really start reaping the value you gain from loyalty programmes across your everyday spend."
- Kinola Pather, Randgo CEO

"Once you know how to play the loyalty game, you save so much. You can use that money to invest in retirement, to put back into savings..."
- Kinola Pather, Randgo CEO
