'Time off is the perfect Mother's Day gift for mom'

Gugs Mhlungu spoke to resident parenting and human potential expert, Nikki Bush.

From being a teacher to a housekeeper, a cook to a nurse and everything in between, being a mother (or a mother figure) has been described as the most difficult job in the world.

Bush says being a mom is a big job.

She believes that mothers can run major corporations because they juggle so much and have learnt how to manage and direct the traffic. 

"I do say to mums, we really must parent for the joy not for the thanks because nobody can ever thank a mother enough  for what she has given and what she has sacrificed."

Mothers are multi-tasking all the time, says Bush, adding that they need time out now and then.

"If there's a gift you can give mum this Mother's Day, it would be the gift of time - the gift of time off and the gift of time out. Mums need time to contemplate life every now and again and to keep their perspective because it can be so very all-consuming."
