The City’s Urban Mobility Directorate intends to ease congestion in various suburbs in Cape Town by converting some roads into one-ways.

The affected areas are:

  • Labiance
  • Claremont; Kenilworth, Rondebosch, Rondebosch East
  • Vanguard Estate and Surrey Estate
  • Retreat and Southfield
  • Kirstenhof

The City says benefits of these road conversions are to:

  • Alleviate of congestion during peak periods 
  • Ease entry into and exiting from the parallel on-street parking bays 
  • Reduce conflict between road users 
  • Increase parking availability.
