White voters still unconvinced by Malema and the EFF?
Political experts say it's clear the leader of the Economic Freedom Fighters has been attempting to break new ground this election.

Julius Malema, a future president of South Africa?
That's certainly the image he's trying to mould as he continues on the campaign trail ahead of the upcoming elections.
Indeed the brash, fiery Malema of yesteryear, appears to have been replaced by a more tempered leader of the red berets.
I suspect he's playing for a long innings, not a limited-overs specialist, says Bingwa.
Madia agrees.
"There has been a tone down in language, he's trying to make himself more appealing to a wider range of people."

"He understands and he sees the polling that says he's going to plateau and he's trying to change tack and trying to appeal to a wider audience."

Madia says even Malema's campaign trail for this election looks different to previous trails and has taken him to new destinations on the map in search of new EFF supporters.
"I went to Lenasia and he said to them, we're trying to break new ground. He met with the Indian community in Lenasia, he met with communities in Eldorado Park."

However, he is still struggling to garner any real traction from white voters, says Madia.
I think it's due to his past rhetoric, she says.
At a recent event where Malema had been due to speak to a majority white audience, the target audience simply didn't pitch.
"I said, where are the white people he wants to meet with so badly? And they said, eish, it's tough."
