JOHANNESBURG - The City of Ekurhuleni on Friday warned of interrupted water supply in parts of the East Rand.

This is due to low levels in the Brakpan bulk water supply system.

The city said that roving water tankers had been dispatched to the affected areas.

"This is affecting reservoirs in the areas of Kwa-Thema, Tsakane, Langaville, Geluksdal, Labore and Withoek Estates and neighbouring areas. We are pulling all stops to make sure the system recovers as soon as possible so that there’s enough pressure and water is restored to areas that still don’t have water until now," said the City of Ekurhuleni.

At the same time, water has been restored in areas that were affected by an infrastructure upgrade at the Northmead water tower in Benoni, along with the repairs at Pam Brink reservoir in Springs.

Both have been completed, however, the city warned that high-lying areas may take some time to accumulate pressure.
