Multiple infectious diseases going around, precautions necessary – Health Dept

There is a high presence of different strains of influenza, RSV, and even Covid across South Africa.
The Department of Health has reported the country’s second laboratory confirmed case of Mpox formerly known as Monkey Pox.

A 39-year-old male was admitted to Addington Hospital in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal with Mpox.
The patient has no recent travel history to any country experiencing an outbreak of this disease.
Mohale says people must take necessary precautions if they feel sick or are vulnerable to getting ill.
“Let us try by all means to be safe, protect ourselves, and protect our loved ones.”

The early symptoms of Mpox are similar to those of other diseases - such as headaches and muscle pains.
The most noticeable symptom is large itchy and painful blisters.
If you believe you may have Mpox, Mohale says you must seek medical attention as soon as possible.
