Researchers have discovered the skull of a prehistoric 'giant goose' in Australia.

The skull once belonged to a now-extinct giant flightless bird that weighed 230kgs, about five times as much as an emu.

The 45 000 to 50 000-year-old fossil is said to have stood at about two metres or more.

It is the most complete skull of the Genyornis newtoni to have been discovered.
