The Dutchman is the first international runner to win the race since Stephen Muzhingi in 2011.

JOHANNESBURG - Piet Wiersma of the Netherlands was the first runner across the finish line of the 2024 Comrades Ultramarathon on Sunday.

The Dutchman is the first international runner to win the race since Stephen Muzhingi in 2011.

Wiersma, who was second in the down run in 2023, finished the 85.9km up run from Durban to Pietermaritzburg ahead of Dan Moselakwe of South Africa and Degefa Yohannese Lafebo of Ethiopia.

Tete Dijana, who won the down run in 2023, finished 14th.

This was the first up run since 2019.
