Former MK leader loses bid to be reinstated, party calls him ‘a shady character’

Jabulani Khumalo refuted claims by the Independent Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC) that it received a letter from the MK Party that stated it changed its leader from him to former President Jacob Zuma. Picture: Jacques Nelles/Eyewitness News

The former leader of the MK Party, Jabulani Khumalo had appealed to the Electoral Court to reinstate him as the head of the party.

He claimed that his signature was forged on a form transferring the leadership of the party to Jacob Zuma.

The court found his testimony was inconsistent and ruled against him.

Nhlamulo Ndhlela, MK Party Spokesperson, says that they support this ruling.

“We always stated Jabulani Khumalo was flogging a dead horse… His character is sketchy, he has got a very sketchy background and is a shady individual.”

He adds the party will be opening a criminal case against Khumalo.
