CAPE TOWN - Western Cape Premier Alan Winde said that his new Cabinet had been carefully chosen to build on the successes of his first term.
Winde will be sworn in as premier on Thursday when the 42-member Western Cape legislature meets for the first time in the seventh administration.
Winde will also appoint new members of his Cabinet to lead the Democratic Alliance (DA)-run province for the next five years.
The DA won 55% of the vote, with 24 seats.
The Western Cape will be the first of nine provinces to elect and swear in its premier when Winde starts his second term on Thursday.
Winde will also appoint his new Cabinet, with some MECs in key portfolios expected to make a return to lead the province for the next five years.
Winde said that the Cabinet would continue his last administration's successes.
But he still acknowledged that crime was still unacceptably high in the province, too many people were unemployed, and many residents were poorer as a result of the cost-of-living crisis.
Thursday's sitting will also see new parties entering the Western Cape legislature for the first time, like the Cape Coloured Congress and the Patriotic Alliance (PA), where three MPLs from the parties will be sworn in.
